RACHEALLEE!!
Featuring from NYFW live from Bryant Park!
SPRING SUMMER 2010 COLLECTIONS

Custo Barcelona

OK, so this was my first official Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Runway Show "live" from inside the Tents! A gift that is never to be forgotten for those of you who truly enjoy fashion (thanks to my friend in NYC and my JM for all of the special tickets!) And I do have to admit, when the lights went down and the music started the action was intense- I had to look around and say to myself- "Am I really here? At one of my favorite designer's runway shows? Really?" A tear or few came to my eyes. All I could think about was my mother and how much she wanted this. This is the reality of the fashion business. It's more appreciated when you see it LIVE and IN COLOR. Watching the show on the TV is nothing compared to the heart pumping adrenaline rush of the moment....
My first show was Custo Barcelona whom I truly adore and love their colorful tops and dresses! The show was packed! And I got seats! Yeah! No standing room! You can purchase Custo @ Saks, Barney's, Bloomindales, Nordstrom & Bergdorf Goodman as well as other fine retailers.
The show started out in whites with lace stitched into bright hues and cutouts with sheer mesh and matching panties. Patterns were bold and with Lips and a peacock feeling with Ostrich Feather statements. Trimmings were sequence, beaded & fringed! Almost kind of gypsy like with the bouncy free spirited models dominating the runway with their long legs and shoes? Colorful strappy sandals with a gladiator feel for a strong statement.
Men's blazers were popping with plaids and brocade designs shimmering in a disco ball of light. Amazing wearable art...Check it out:

SPRING SUMMER 2010 NEW YORK
CARLOS MIELE

Wearable and beautiful for all women!
Sexy and seductive dresses long and short, separates & bottoms dominated the runway for Carlos Miele Spring Summer Debut. Flashes of Purple, Cherry and Teals all superseded the collection with Pops of Black.
"I really wanted to focus on separates this season," the designer said backstage, "and I also used a lot of black." -Carlos Miele

More Spring Summer 2010 Runway Shows!
What is black and white & blue all over? Jill Stuart that is with her edgy & minimalistic-less is more revealing ensembles that celebs donned upon as they sat front row @ the New York Public Library anxiously awaiting the show to start while paparazzi snapped away at them.
Front Row Celebrities ranged from Kim Kardashian, Amanda Bynes,
Kelly Rowland to Shenae Grimes.

The Collection was quite interesting, almost futuristic with 80's twist and shout. Dresses had cutouts, they were short-there was studs, zippers pops of cobalt blue and some dappled hot pink but, for the most part it was classic black and white. Skirts seemed to make a come back this next season as well & very short that is, just like the shorts! Enjoy some of my favorite pieces...

Next on my agenda was Tony Cohen! I am not sure if you fellow Pittsburghers know but, Tony used to play for the Pittsburgh Pirates. As much as I tried to sneak backstage for a quick interview I was quickly stopped by security! UGHHH!! However, I will be interviewing him next NYFW in February, this I promise!
Celebs that appeared in front row @ his show were Ciara,
Angela Simmons, Bently Fonzworth:

Tony Cohen's line was probably the strongest yet. Leggings, leather jackets, the use of ruching and texture on fabrics and the shoes! Uh! Love them! Pale color palette of greens, pale purples, greys and soft whites. Check out some of my favorites...

More from MB Fashion Week!
"I haven't done a bias-cut slip in years! But it felt time for something light and clean," said Amy Smilovic

Tibi
Amy Simlovic did it again for another smashing season for Tibi! By far one of the most wearable contemporary collections for women of all ages & sizes. The pretty pallets of bold punch hues, attractive florals, preppy separates, boho chic, prints, cocktail ensembles & embellishments. Variations ranged from separates, shorts, skirts, jackets, dresses both short and long! Some of the dresses reminded me of a slip from the early 1990's! The collection was so refreshed & clean.
"Rachel" by Rachel Roy for Macy's!

What woman doesn't love-love-love "Rachel" by Rachel Roy for Macy's! The prices are especially important here as well as the silhouettes are perfect from a day in the office to an evening out! Another wearable collection for all women. I brought along friend, designer, artist and model Jenna Anne Sabom for a try and fit @ Macy's in Herald Square. The collection is found in most Macy's & online.
Look #1 Jumper $119

Review from MBFW-
Anna Sui
Circus Circus Ring Leader-
Anna Sui called her shots with a
Rockin' SS 2010 show!
Coming from off the runway directly to you my style segment readers! Designer Anna Sui whom I truly adore her aesthetics and style for SS 2010! Not to mention she has a collaboration with Target which sold out in 2 days @ Fashion's Night Out!!!

Oranges, Golds, Pinks, Purples-Greens OH MY! It's a Circus @ Anna Sui with Majorette Hats, School girl fun almost like prep school meets Gossip Girl. High gladiator shoes adorned the runway as models sashayed in "short" shorts, skirts, vests paired under blouses-very Parisian School Girl meets Dr. Do Little (as was her inspiration) The clothing had ruffles, brocade, embroidery and shimmer! The show rocked as the music had people ready to party like rock stars. Canadian Model Jessica Stam was one who rocked it out too! Check it out as I had a glimpse of another smashing runway view!

FINALE!!
Let's start with Narciso Rodriguez!

Let's just say that having the opportunity to be in the AMEX VIP Tent paid off with its perks!
Oh and free food and cocktails...
However, this one was more special to me. After watching the Tibi show during the breaks we normally get a guest speaker. They would be execs from Magazines or Luxury Department Store's. This one was amazing! As the marketing people from AMEX told me I would truly appreciate this....In comes walking Ruben & Isabella Toledo with Model Crystal Renn! Isabella was the creative director for Anne Klien who has made designs for Michelle Obama. Ruben is an Artist. If your in NYC this month check out the exhibit @ FIT.
It was a truly amazing time to spend with them & I got to interview Model Crystal Renn who just released her new book, "Hungry" a biography in regards to her career as a model with the pressures of staying thin which is now available @ stores. Now Crystal is a healthy size 12 and still dominates the runway, print and is so beautiful! Enjoy aspiring models! Click on Book!
Celebs front row? Check them out! I was watching Courtney Love the entire time! She seemed to enjoy the show! Not too far from her was Jessica Alba, Emmy Russom, Claire Danes, AnnaWintour, Tory Burch, Mary Alice Stephson, & Stefania Fernandez (Miss Universe) amongst major editors!

As for the collection of Narciso Rodriguez, it was exquisite as always. And he kept it non-rocker unlike everyone! Minimalism, Suiting, Prints, Sheer, Brights...Check out some of my favorites:
See the complete collection click here
In addition to showing Narciso's line he is also launching a exclusive line with Ebay!!! Check out some of the styles not to range over $350!! Check it out here
The Last but not least is Doo Ri!
Doo Ri is edgy, hard and strong. You can tell by the chains & the wire neckwear the models were embracing on the runway along with their matte grey lips. I liked the preview of the line and we will see what makes it into stores. The only concern I had was the models! Someone please throw them a cheeseburger, pizza or Crystal Renn's new Book "Hungry"!! OMG! Waif's!
Check out my picks from the show:

"Snuggie"
aka "The Blanket with Sleeves"

How did I miss this show amongst all the rave about it after the fact that I spotted a woman wearing a "Snuggie" in the tent awaiting for another show to start? Yes, you heard correctly- Snuggie made its fashion week debut on the runway @ The Park Avenue Hotel hosted by "Ross The Intern" Matthews.
Who would of ever thought that a BLANKET from Fleece could be turned into this so-called "Fashionable" wear that is dominating buzz from MBFW? I mean, it definitely didn't make London or Paris Fashion Week that's for sure. Those fasionistas take FW way more seriously. Are we really that daring to actually be excited about this item? I know that households all over the country have them hiding behind the couch or in the linen closet....Heck, even when I was @ NYC's Rooftop fav 230 Fifth they have them in the seated table areas for the cool NYC evenings! I mean if they made it to the Upper East Side why not the Runway during MBFW?
Models-Men, Women & kids graced the runway wearing the latest new colors debuting from Sunggie from Red, Blue, Fuschia & Bone colors. Popping highlights were the animal prints in Leopard & Zebra. Sunggies didn't stop there, they now made "The Snoggie" for your "doggies"! Think they will fit lil Butchy?
