Not exactly your typical walk/run fundraiser - the Wheelchair Grand Prix showcases runners and walkers pushing wheelchairs over a Pittsburgh North Shore relay course. It is a unique, fun event that raises awareness for Variety the Children’s Charity programs, specifically the Kids on the Go! program.
Please join the Variety Young Professionals in supporting Variety the Children’s Charity as a wheeler or volunteer for our 6th Annual Wheelchair Grand Prix on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m.
We are also currently looking for corporate partnerships for sponsorships and teams for the upcoming Wheelchair Grand Prix. For more information on sponsorships please visit our site @ http://www.wheelchairgrandprix.com/ and click on the Sponsorship link on the top right corner of the page.
In the way of corporate teams, we are also looking to recruit teams of about 4-5 people to walk, run, or volunteer at the event. 2nd annual leadership luncheon series features local leaders in environment, culture, and technology
In July and August, Coro Pittsburgh will be hosting the 2nd annual Leadership Luncheon Series, in One Oxford Center. The Leadership Luncheon Series offers the unique opportunity to connect with local leaders in our region, and hear how leadership affects their specific industries.
This year, we are excited to feature leaders in Pittsburgh’s environment, technology, and cultural sectors. The luncheons allow Pittsburgh residents and professionals to connect with local leaders, network with one another, and learn how they can advance their personal leadership skills through Coro’s experiential training programs. The three lunches will be held on Tuesdays, July 13, July 27 and August 10.

- July 27 – Features Andre Guess, President & CEO of August Wilson Center for African American Culture.

The Coro Center for Civic Leadership is currently seeking applicants to participate in the fall 2010 program, Running for Public Office: Emerging Leaders in the Public Service.
Running for Public Office (RPO) has a dual vision and purpose: to strengthen citizen participation in public elections, and also to increase the diversity and level of preparation of candidates running for office in Greater Pittsburgh.
As standing for election is an important form of civic engagement and one of the highest forms of public service, our goal is to recruit, select, engage and prepare highly motivated individuals to lead successful electoral campaigns in Greater Pittsburgh. The course is open to prospective candidates and campaign staff who are now contemplating running for office.

PITTSBURGH NATIVE DEJUAN BLAIR ANNOUNCES YOUTH BASKETBALL CAMP
July 6-9 at Robert Morris College in Coraopolis, PA
PITTSBURGH, PA (May 21, 2010) - Pittsburgh native and San Antonio pro basketball star DeJuan Blair will host his first basketball camp July 6-9 at Robert Morris College in Coraopolis, PA. Along with camp partner Five Star Basketball Camp, Blair's youth academy seeks to teach fundamentals while having fun.
The DeJuan Blair Basketball Camp is for girls and boys ages 9-18. The Academy will run daily from 8:30am - 4:00pm and it is excellent preparation for campers looking to take their game to the next level. Throughout the camp, participants will participate in lectures, basketball drill stations, player evaluations, 5 on 5 games, basketball contests as well as educational sessions.
"I am looking forward to hosting my first youth basketball camp in Pittsburgh. I already have some fun drills in mind. I was a camper with Five Star Basketball so they were an obvious partner when I decided to start my own camp. I am looking forward to teaching the kids some of the things I learned in the pros," said DeJuan Blair.
The camp is open to girls and boys ages 9-18 and will cost $199 per camper, which includes a Nike t-shirt, photo with DeJuan Blair, awards and instruction from some of the top coaches in the region.
